ITS Electronic Technician Assistant
The University of Kentucky is seeking an ITS Electronic Technician Assistant to be responsible for installing network cabling, activating network equipment, and managing both minor and major network cabling projects. This role also involves testing and monitoring fiber/copper circuits for functionality and troubleshooting networking/data issues.

Building and equipping communication closets
Testing and monitoring fiber/copper circuits for functionality
Analyzing, diagnosing, coordinating, and repairing networking/data issues
Mastering all test tools at our disposal to diagnose & troubleshoot
Coordinating repair with all affected parties
Qualification
Required
AA
No experience required
Driver's License
Must be able to work from ladders or lifts up to 15 feet or higher
Must be able to reach overhead and use hand tools
Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds
Must be able to work in confined spaces for extended periods of time
Must be able to distinguish wiring colors
Must be able to push/pull cables
Must be able to traverse campus while carrying or moving equipment in a reasonable amount of time
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Ability to work in a sedentary position utilizing computer, mouse, keyboard, and phone for portions of the day
Strong interpersonal skills required
Self-motivation a plus
Must have excellent customer service skills
Communications skills; including on-line communications methods, basic cable installation, termination, and testing skills
Preferred
AA and/or BICSI Apprentice Level Certification
previous related certification
BICSI Apprentice Level Certification Preferred
A KY Driver's License is required
