Health Safety Environment Coordinator
CareersInFood.com is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator to evaluate, plan, maintain and administer Health and Safety programs and policies. The role involves ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting safety training, and performing inspections to maintain a safe workplace for all employees.
Responsibilities
Develop, maintain and implement Health and Safety programs, procedures and SOP’s
Ensure compliance with all company health and safety policies and procedures
Ensure all federal, state and local health and safety related laws and regulations are observed
Plan, develop, implement and conduct various safety training including new employee orientation, refresher courses, toolbox talks, and specific hazards
Coordinates health and safety inspections of facilities and employee PPE compliance with supervision/management team
Comply with all OSHA recordkeeping including reporting and posting OHSA 300 logs
Maintain required health and safety documentation and files
Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard control systems, policies and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries
Conduct periodic health and safety inspections of all workplace facilities to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. Identify, evaluate and record hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace for correction
Conduct near miss and accident/injury investigations to determine root causes and to appropriately identify and correct unsafe conditions or unsafe acts. Recommend appropriate discipline for unsafe acts
Compile, analyze, interpret and report accident/injury data
Point of contact for Workers’ Compensation program. Administers routine first aid medical treatment for work related injuries
Leads and directs activities of the safety committee
Assists in development of health and safety awareness/incentives programs
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Extensive knowledge of environmental, safety and health laws and regulations
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, overnight and weekends
Ability to travel overnight up to 25% of monthly work schedule
Physically able to conduct facility inspections including but not limited to multi-level floors and equipment, accessing platforms, rooftops and silos, entering confined spaces, walk/stand on concrete floors, using ladders and aerial lifts in an industrial, food manufacturing environment
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times
Preferred
Prefer a bachelor's degree in a Health/Safety related field
Prefer a minimum of 3 years of occupational Health/Safety experience
Occupational Health/Safety certification is highly desired (CSP, CIH, ASP, SMP, CIT)
