Senior Cost Analyst

The Senior Cost Analyst is responsible for tracking, analyzing, and controlling costs related to manufacturing operations, including maintaining standard costs and preparing cost reports while collaborating cross-functionally to drive cost reduction and profitability improvements.

Responsibilities
Standard Cost Management - Maintain and update standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead with in the ERP system
Cost Analysis - Analyze cost variances by comparing actual costs to standard costs, identifying root causes, and recommending corrective actions. Using trend data to analyze costs across all product lines
Reporting - Prepare detailed cost reports and financial analysis for management, highlighting trends and key performance indicators
Inventory Control - Review & reconcile inventory transactions, monitor inventory reserves, and support cycle counting and physical inventory processes
New Product & Project Support - Provide cost analysis for new product development, pricing impact, and "make vs. buy" evaluations. Estimate costs for new projects and prepare quotations
Budgeting and Forecasting - Assist in the annual budgeting process and contribute to periodic forecasting and long-range planning. Planning of overhead rates
Process Improvement - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve costing processes, data accuracy, and operational efficiency
Auditing and Compliance - Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with policies and accounting standards
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required
5-10 years of experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
Experience with variance analysis, margin analysis, and cost allocation
Familiarity with process improvements and cost-saving initiatives
Strong attention to detail and ability to present financial data to non-finance stakeholders
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory management
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) and Microsoft Excel
