Director of Education and Programs

Mississippi Children's Museum - Meridian is seeking a Director of Education and Programs to oversee their Education Department. The role involves managing educational programs, collaborating with various departments, and ensuring alignment with the museum’s mission and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

Ensures programs and exhibits work together seamlessly to meet the museum’s mission, vision, and execution of the strategic initiatives of the statewide institution in East MS
Develops and manages education/programs budget, achieving revenue and expense goals
Has oversight of recruitment, hiring, training and job performance of staff in the department
Plans, implements and oversees museum programs including field trips, camps, grant initiatives, weekly and monthly programming
Develops the museum’s educational programs and activities calendar and ensures that all museum management and staff are informed and prepared
Oversees the Afterschool Program including staff, daily operations, programming, curriculum and evaluation
Recruits, trains and supervises the MCM-Meridian Volunteer Program
Develops educational materials for varied constituencies: school groups, caregivers, children, and the general public
Develops and implements evaluation processes for programs, exhibit experiences, and staff administering them
Collaborates with the Marketing Department regarding materials/information needed for programs, events, website, social media, and e-blasts
Establishes and manages a network of partners and collaborators to fulfill the Education Department’s goals
Assists with grant writing and identification of potential foundations, government and corporate funding opportunities, and meets with potential funders/sponsors regarding programming
Assists with any special events that are programmatic and central to the mission and vision of the museum as an educational institution

Required

Five years minimum of supervisory professional experience in Education, Arts Education, or Museum Education and/or related experience in a cultural educational organization
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
Current Teaching License
Must be able to work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Availability to work during the evenings and on weekends for occasional MCM-M mission-related events

Preferred

Master's Degree preferred
