This role involves managing the entire accounting process, including job costing, payroll, and financial reporting, while leading a small team and implementing process improvements.

Responsibilities
Own the full accounting function, including month-end and quarter-end close
Manage job costing, WIP schedules, and cost-to-complete reporting
Prepare journal entries, bank reconciliations, and financial statements
Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll
Manage payroll taxes, quarterly filings, and union benefits administration
Partner with the external CPA firm on monthly WIP reporting and quarterly taxes, with the goal of transitioning work in-house
Prepare and distribute financials and contractor prequalification packages
Manage insurance renewals, benefits administration, and 401(k) coordination
Maintain employee records, OSHA logs, unemployment reporting, and HR compliance files
Supervise and mentor long-tenured AP/AR and payroll staff
Identify and implement process improvements across accounting and administrative functions
Serve as the primary financial and accounting partner to ownership
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent hands-on experience
5+ years of progressive accounting experience in construction or project-based environments
Strong background in construction accounting, job costing, WIP, and cost-to-complete
Experience overseeing AP, AR, union payroll (a plus), and financial reporting
Comfortable working independently in a lean, hands-on environment
Proactive, take-charge mindset with strong accountability
Detail-oriented problem solver with excellent follow-through
Clear communicator who can partner effectively with non-financial leadership
Preferred
Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
