LHH is seeking a detail-driven Payroll & Accounting Specialist to join their team in Burbank. This role is essential for ensuring smooth payroll operations, maintaining compliance, supporting accounting functions, and delivering exceptional service to employees across the organization.

Responsibilities

Maintain and prepare payroll files within the UKG payroll system
Run, review, and verify pre‑transmission payroll reports
Produce manual checks when needed
Calculate and compile medical benefit deductions and various earnings
Research and resolve employee payroll discrepancies
Communicate with employees and management (written & verbal) on payroll matters
Track and monitor field performance across key payroll elements
Process and interpret wage garnishments, child support orders, and levies
Investigate and resolve misdirected checks; update systems as needed
Audit payroll to identify and correct processing errors
Manage all employee timecards
Provide timekeeping training and reconcile timesheets
Prepare and respond to payroll‑related state filings
Upload payroll journal entries
Assist with weekly and monthly accounting activities
Manage Workers’ Compensation and insurance filings/upkeep
Complete 401(k) reconciliations and distribute option documentation
Upload 401(k) and HSA contributions to providers
Support the annual 401(k) audit
Perform additional duties as assigned
Support general accounting and finance operations
Review and enter accounts payable and employee expense transactions
Reconcile account balances and bank statements
Maintain general ledger accounts
Assist with month‑end close
Utilize strong analytical skills and attention to detail in all tasks
Interact with employees to resolve accounting‑related inquiries

Required

Experience with UKG (UltiPro) payroll systems
Strong understanding of payroll compliance and accounting processes
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail

Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
