Intern, R&D Undergraduate Summer - Consortium for Education and Research in Electronics for Extreme Environments (E3C), Onsite
Sandia National Laboratories is the nation’s premier science and engineering lab for national security and technology innovation, and they are seeking a highly motivated undergraduate intern to assist with electronic device testing and characterization. The successful candidate will support various engineering activities and experiments focused on semiconductor devices in hostile environments, contributing to national security efforts.

Responsibilities
Assist with data acquisition, data processing and data analysis of electronic devices exposed to hostile environments at various radiation facilities
Develop various semiconductor defect characterization capabilities, assisting with fielding of experiments, help with the planning and execution of radiation effects experiments on electronic devices and other related engineering activities
Join a diverse team of scientists and engineers focusing on applied research in the interests of National Security
Qualification
Required
Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited undergraduate program
Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, asylees or refugees in the U.S
Preferred
Currently attending and enrolled full time (or scheduled to graduate in the Spring 2026) in an accredited graduate program in science, engineering, and/or math at one of the university partners in the Consortium for Education and Research in Electronics for Extreme Environments (E3C): at The University of Texas at El Paso, the University of New Mexico, or North Carolina Agriculture and Technical and State University
Experience with electrical testing and test operations
Experience with semiconductor defect characterization techniques
Coding experience in MATLAB, python or a similar scripting/programing language
Skills involving electronics, instrumentation, optical and/or vacuum technology
Ability to travel to various test facilities across the US
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
