Responsibilities
Own Elementum’s contract review, negotiation, and approval process to support deal velocity while managing legal and commercial risks
Establish and maintain contract standards, playbooks, and fallback positions
Accelerate patent volume by partnering directly with Product and Engineering to mine internal innovation and significantly increase the volume of high-quality patent filings
Work with external counsel to manage the IP portfolio strategy to ensure we are building a defensive moat around our AI and data cloud technologies
Serve as the primary point of contact between Elementum and its external legal firms
Ensure outside counsel is used efficiently, cost-effectively, and only where appropriate
Provide legal support across corporate governance and employment matters, engaging specialists as needed
Partner with People Success on employment-related issues and compliance
Advise on legal risks associated with AI technologies, LLM usage, data privacy, and enterprise data environments
Help the business navigate emerging regulatory and contractual considerations related to AI and data
Qualification
Required
6 - 8 years of experience in corporate law with JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership
Prior in-house experience at a high-growth SaaS or AI company
Demonstrated experience negotiating commercial contracts (preferably $1M+) directly with opposing counsel and business stakeholders
Actively using AI tools in legal workflows
Experience with IP development and patent filing coordination in a technical environment
Familiarity with corporate governance, stock administration, and fundraising mechanics
Thorough understanding of legal risks associated with AI, LLMs, and enterprise data
Experience supporting business in European jurisdictions
