Director of Risk and Compliance
Confidential company is seeking a Director of Risk and Compliance to oversee and manage their risk management and corporate compliance program. The role focuses on safeguarding the organization's integrity and financial stability by ensuring adherence to laws and industry standards, while also leading risk management strategies and compliance governance across multiple subsidiaries.

Responsibilities
Identify and analyze potential enterprise risks. Develop and implement mitigation strategies following the established company ERM methodology
Develop and implement comprehensive risk management strategies and policies to identify and mitigate potential risks to the organization
Conduct thorough risk assessments to evaluate the potential impact of identified risks on the organization's operations and strategic goals
Lead the risk management team and coordinate with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to risk across the organization
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards and relevant legislation. Maintain compliance program, control and policy environment for our eight corporate subsidiaries
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to risk management
Plan risk management training and awareness programs across the organization to embed a culture of risk awareness and proactive management
Participate in regulatory examinations and internal audits. Prepare reports for executive leadership
Develop and maintain policies, procedures and training programs to educate employees globally on risk management and compliance responsibilities
Lead investigations into accidents or incidents, document findings and recommend corrective actions
Manage the organization's corporate compliance management budget and resources effectively
Preparing and presenting risk reports and risk treatment plans to stakeholders, including recommendations for mitigating risks
Reporting non-compliance or ethical concerns in a timely manner through the proper reporting channels
Qualification
Required
Bachelor degree from an accredited 4 year org/university in a related field of study or equivalent job experience to substitute background knowledge
5 to 10 years of exp in the compliance/risk field in successively more challenging positions
Knowledge of industry best practices, up to date in risk management practices, methodology and implementation of processes
Strong interpersonal skills
Must be proficient in power point, with proven written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail and strong organizational habits
Ability to follow processes consistently and ask questions when something looks incorrect
Curiosity, accountability, and a desire to grow into more advanced compliance responsibilities
Preferred
Experience at a director level or above
5-10 years of experience leading compliance, audit, risk, compliance, legal or similar operations with financial services experience preferred (banking, lending, payments or FINTECH preferred)
Basic understanding of global risk management operations
Basic knowledge of financial regulations operations (e.g., consumer finance rules) or a strong willingness to learn
Comfortable using technology and tools to conduct compliance and risk management operations— such as dashboards, ticketing systems, workflow automation software, spreadsheets, and documentation platforms
Fluent in Spanish and English
