The Danville Science Center is seeking a dynamic and energetic part-time Museum Generalist to be a vital part of our guest experience team. In this role, you will deliver high-quality customer service and engage visitors through exhibit interpretation and hands-on STEM programs.

Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality customer service and represent our brand with enthusiasm

Engage visitors through exhibit interpretation

Assist with hands-on STEM programs, outreach events, birthday parties, and special events

Provide guest services support

Operate the Dome theater console

Assist in the museum gift shop

Help maintain the Butterfly Station

Take on other tasks aligned with the museum’s mission and strategic goals

Qualification

Required

Ability to implement STEM education in informal settings or possess equivalent training and experience

Strong customer service skills

Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

Proficient with Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, and Excel

Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision

Effectively engaging with individuals of all ages and backgrounds

Confident and dynamic presentation skills in both one-on-one and group settings

Ability to deliver content in an engaging and energetic manner

Extensive customer service experience and/or training

Experience in cash handling and/or retail sales

Strong organizational skills

Ability to accurately manage money and inventory with accountability

Must be able to work the weekend (Sunday shifts required), holidays and occasional evenings depending on museum programming and events

Preferred

Museum experience

Interest in science

Experience in K-12 science education

Experience working with children of various ages

ASL or Spanish language competencies
