Assistant Controller

Found House Interfaith Housing Network (FHIHN) works to provide shelter, housing, and support to families experiencing housing insecurity. The Assistant Controller supports the financial functions of the organization, assists with outside audits, manages transactional human resources activities, and basic information technology functions.

Responsibilities

Support the day to day financial operations of the organization-process check requests, reimbursements, monthly rent and utility payments on behalf of clients
Print various electronic invoices and ensure timely payment for all invoices
Participate in allocating costs appropriately, according to timesheet submissions
Enter deposits from donations into QuickBooks
Process Payroll
Manage credit card transactions, collection of documentation and account reconciliations
Assist in maintaining the ACH system for client rental and utility payments
Assist in preparing financial materials for grant applications or reports, management and for the Board meetings
Other related duties, as needed
Provide staff support for hiring processes
Maintain employee personnel files
Coordinate with direct supervisor to provide onboarding and orientation to new role
Regularly negotiate for health, dental, and vision insurance and determine employee contributions
Manage employee benefits enrollment and participation
Manage SIMPLE IRA enrollment and contributions
Manage Paid Time Off, including providing regular reminders to staff about PTO remaining
Interpret and update employee manual in conjunction with Executive Leadership team
Track regular performance review process and consult with supervisors as necessary
Other related duties, as needed
Trouble-shoot technological problems
Acquire new technology for agency and program services, where needed
Set up devices, in conjunction with IT support and VP of Operations, for new hires
Manage transfer of devices among employees, as needed

Required

A degree in Accounting and at least two years of experience in accounting, finance or administrative field
Required proficiencies in QuickBooks, Outlook, Word, Excel (Ability to build basic tables, functions, and charts), Positive Pay
Solid understanding of accounting and non-profit accounting practices and procedures
A strong degree of attention to detail and accuracy
An ability to work efficiently across many different program requirements
Ease with multi-tasking amidst changing priorities
High degree of problem solving ability
Ability to learn program funding restrictions quickly and thoroughly
Efficient time management for productivity
Self-motivation and an ability to work independently
Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills
Sound judgment
Collaboration as a strong team player
Experience working with payroll processing systems, computerized general ledger, and accounting systems. (Paycor/QuickBooks/Positive Pay)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
Ability to maintain sense of humor
Ability to work with a culturally diverse staff and client base

Preferred

Experience in managing a nonprofit's financial systems is preferred but not required
