Vocational Training Supervisor

NEOGOV is seeking a Vocational Training Supervisor to coordinate and direct the activities of the Ability Works, Inc. facility, which is part of the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services. The role involves overseeing production quality, managing budgets, and supervising staff to ensure effective vocational training services for individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

Oversees the quality of goods produced in the facility workshop in order to ensure that product specifications prescribed in contracts are met and to maintain the integrity of workshop operations
Coordinates contract procurement and consults with subcontractors to ensure the availability of sufficient contractual revenue to provide for the continuous, effective operation of the facility
Directs the control of supply inventories and equipment to include necessary purchasing to ensure that adequate supplies and equipment are available for production and maintenance purposes
Develops, monitors, and manages the CRP budget and operations to minimize costs and maximize services provided
Coordinates the evaluation of the vocational potential of participants and vocational training designed to facilitate clients’ entry or re-entry into the state’s workforce
Supervises the work of subordinate personnel through the assignment and review of work, training of employees, coordination of employee leave schedules, and the administration of employee performance review assessments
Consults with district staff to ensure that the CRP provides necessary services and that client needs are best served at all times
Performs and oversees reporting responsibilities, i.e., fiscal reports, accreditation reports, and federal and state reports
Ensures compliance with all agency, state, and federal financial guidelines
Ensures compliance with safety and quality procedures
Monitors services provided to clients by reviewing case files
Monitors facility costs by reviewing monthly financial reports
Monitors timeliness and quality of client and customer services
Delegates appropriately and mentors staff growth opportunities
Promotes the skills and abilities of people with disabilities through marketing activities
Develops short and long-term goals of the vocational training services by assessing the current interests of the stakeholders and recommending new programs and modifications to current programs
Maintains effective and efficient communication with staff, vendors, clients, and stakeholders
Completes other duties as assigned

Required

A basic understanding of rehabilitation counseling and guidance functions
A basic understanding of manufacturing, production of goods and the profit and loss functions of a business
Ability to lead, coordinate program efforts, manage priorities within time constraints to meet deadlines
Maintain client confidentiality
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
Interpret and follow policies and procedures

Preferred

Typically requires a High School Diploma or high school equivalency
5+ years of relevant experience and/or relevant certifications/licenses
1-2 years of supervisory experience
A Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Business Administration, Education, or a related field
Five (5) or more years of relevant experience
One (1) to two (2) years of supervisory experience
A Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Business Administration, Education, or a related field
