Chief Commercial Officer, Renewable Energy
Dylan Green is a U.S.-based renewable energy company advancing the transition to clean power through large-scale solar and wind projects. They are seeking a Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to lead the organization’s commercial strategy, drive new growth initiatives, and oversee the full wholesale development pipeline.
Responsibilities
Launch and scale an internal energy trading function from the ground up
Direct all wholesale energy sourcing to secure reliable supply at competitive cost
Manage external counterparties to streamline transfers of energy, capacity, and environmental attributes
Structure and execute power purchase arrangements supporting downstream retail demand
Partner with trading teams to deploy intraday, day-ahead, and real-time market tactics
Translate hedging approaches into clear guidance for internal stakeholders
Design commercial strategies that enhance enterprise value while controlling commodity exposure
Evaluate, monitor, and manage company-wide exposure to market, regulatory, and compliance risks
Create and implement mitigation plans to safeguard financial outcomes and brand integrity
Maintain disciplined risk governance frameworks and ensure consistent adherence
Advise on contract structuring, basis exposure, and hedge design
Cultivate long-term relationships with regulators, market participants, and financial partners
Lead negotiations for new power supply agreements with utilities and commercial customers on future projects
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure commercial execution aligns with broader strategic goals
Oversee financial planning, forecasting, and performance tracking across commercial operations
Deliver clear, actionable updates to senior leadership and the board on results, risks, and growth opportunities
Ensure all commercial activities meet applicable financial controls and reporting standards
Qualification
Required
Extensive and progressive leadership experience in accounting, including substantial involvement with the buildout and/or operation of renewable power assets
Undergraduate degree in accounting or a closely related business discipline required, with advanced credentials such as an MBA or CPA strongly preferred; background in public accounting viewed as a plus
Comfortable working within a flexible hybrid environment that blends remote and in-office work based on role requirements, with a preference for candidates able to regularly access major regional office locations
Demonstrated expertise in U.S. generally accepted accounting standards and the ability to apply professional judgment in their interpretation
Strong people management and communication capabilities, with experience overseeing multiple senior leaders and broader team structures
Advanced technical, analytical, and operational proficiency across enterprise tools, including spreadsheet and presentation software, cloud-based general ledger systems, and financial planning platforms
Highly driven individual who operates independently and takes ownership of outcomes
