SR PRODUCT ENGINEER (On-site)

Responsibilities
Gathers product requirements as documented by TE, customer, industry, and military specifications
Communicate directly with Customers to track all product requirements
Design/Redesign products to solve a customer complaint, manufacturing issues, or to support cost optimization
Initiate and execute Engineering Changes for product manufacturability. This may include updating drawings and 3D models
Determine level of product qualification testing required for aerospace products
Perform engineering analyses and risk assessment for product reliability
Review non-conforming material requests for product form, fit, function requirements
Root cause and corrective action assistance on design related issues which have resulted in customer complaints, manufacturing, or supplier rejections
Serve as key product contact for product management, sourcing, customer service and sales
Assist Procurement in developing new suppliers and supplier consolidation, also to ensure that purchased products meet required specifications
Participates in A3 problem solving teams for design related issues, attends Tier Meetings, Material Review Board, and Fast Response Board problem solving of customer and supplier issues
Work with Product Management, Sales and Customer Service to ensure a safe product performance for different applications
Longer term may be responsible for design extension activities which will require working closely with customers, field sales, product management, and manufacturing engineering functions
Perform all tasks in compliance with Tyco Electronics Quality Systems including ISO 9001 and AS9100
Provide Exceptional Customer Experience to internal and external customers
Qualification
Required
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree or Mechatronics (or equivalent)
7+ years of experience, preferably in product design/sustaining for the aerospace industry
Experience with CREO or SolidWorks design software
Strong mechanical and material analysis; troubleshooting skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Must be a self-managed team player with superior time management skills
Posses strong knowledge of good engineering principles and design practices
Familiar with Aerospace specifications and standards

GDT – Geometric Tolerances / stack up analysis experience
Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma environment preferred
