General Engineer
DLA Careers is seeking a General Engineer to support the Clothing and Textiles mission within the Defense Logistics Agency. The role involves providing technical guidance, sustaining standardization documents, and resolving engineering issues related to quality and reliability.

Responsibilities
Serves as a General Engineer in the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Troop Support Clothing and Textiles
Performs work in support of the Clothing and Textiles mission
Sustainment of standardization documents for equipage, clothing and textiles
Focal point for technical and quality accuracy of the mission
Provide technical guidance on materials science for equipage, clothing and textiles
Resolves technical or engineering topics and manufacturing issues for quality and reliability
Verifies and validates evidentiary material required for the organization

Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, where reciprocity cannot be applied; unfavorably adjudicated background checks will be grounds for removal
Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): GS-11/12 Exempt/ GS-9, GS-07-Non-Exempt
Selective Service Requirement: Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service

Selections can be made at the GS-07, GS-09, GS-11 or GS-12 Level. GS-09 and GS-11 selections have promotion potential to the Full Performance Level of GS-12
Defense Acquisition Workforce position. Must complete DoD certification and other requirements
Basic Requirement: A Bachelor's Degree or higher in professional engineering
Professional Registration or Licensure -- Current registration as an Engineer Intern (El), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico
Written Test -- Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board
Specified academic courses -- Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the Basic Requirements above
Related curriculum -- Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g. engineering technology physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position
To qualify for the GS-12 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector
To qualify for the GS-11 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-09 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector
To qualify for the GS-09 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector
To qualify for the GS-07 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-06 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the federal service, military or private sector
Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social)
Education must be from a college or university accredited by an organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education
If using education to meet basic qualifications, YOU MUST SUBMIT A TRANSCRIPT as supplemental documentation
Combination: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for grade levels GS-07, GS-09 and GS-11
Position requires Engineering & Tech Management (N)/ETM, Foundational certification within required timeframes
Selectee must also achieve 80 hours of Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) every 2-years
