Outbound Distribution Intern

They are seeking an Outbound Distribution Intern to support process improvement projects in outbound operations, working closely with the Director of Distribution.

Responsibilities
Outbound Process Improvement Project
The purpose of the project is to focus on process improvements/efficiencies associated with picking and loading operations
The anticipated outcome of this project is labor savings, process improvement, and overall outbound operations efficiency
Work directly with the Director of Distribution and Logistics on a process improvement project for Outbound operations
Interview DC (Distribution Center) employees associated with Outbound operations to gain a better understanding of current Operations
Gather pertinent data for picking and loading operations
Present data findings to Director of Distribution
Assist with analyzing data points and determining best course of action
Review labor costs and functions associated with Outbound operations with the Dir of Distribution
Provide reports on project progress (bi-weekly)
Publish and brief final process improvement report to Dir of Ops and VP of Operations
Produce a “Draft” operating procedure to support findings
Assist with validating operating procedure
Implement/train operating procedure with DC supervisors
Review Outbound work processes, recommend measures to improve productivity methods, equipment performance, and quality of product or service, and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency
Estimate material, time, and staffing requirements for a given project, based on work orders, job specifications, and experience
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Must be a current student or recent graduate of a university or college. Minimum of a rising sophomore level
Coursework related to the internship role: Industrial Engineering/Distribution, Statistics
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in tools or software relevant to the role are Microsoft Office, Advanced Excel
Soft Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability skills
All applicants must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis
Preferred
AutoCAD is a plus but not required
