Maintenance Mechanic
Responsibilities
Fill out daily log reports, emergency breakdown reports, work orders, and communicate with incoming shifts
Perform machine set up and repair assembly and packaging equipment
Perform preventative maintenance routines on all production equipment
Ability to work on low voltage and 120-480vac equipment, starters, motors, vfd’s, sensors, controllers, photo-eyes, etc
Install, debug and stabilize plant equipment as required
Read schematics and blueprints to interpret, diagnose, and troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic issues to properly and safely repair
Perform repairs and upgrades of the machinery and equipment to ensure proper operation
Install electronic parts and hardware, using soldering equipment and hand tools
Assist in Production/Maintenance related assignments as needed
Communicate regarding issues and problems solve with Production staff any quality and safety concerns
Perform electrical and distribution lock out/ tag out method steady with customary safety protocol
Record maintenance data as directed by the Maintenance supervisor to monitor equipment performance, i.e. work orders
Identify and report equipment concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor
Participate in overtime assignments as required
Mechanic is required to supply their own hand tools and a lockable toolbox
Working in a general manufacturing environment
Perform various other similar and related duties as required by the Plant Manager
Qualification
Required
Experience in equipment maintenance
Experience with Pneumatics, Hydraulics and Electrical
Ability to withstand wet, cold (35-40F), humid and hot environments
Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, stand for extended hours
Must be able to climb ladders
Must be able to move heavy objects
Must have experience with the following machines: Tiromat packaging machines & Drake Loaders
Safety toe footwear
Hairnet, beard net (if applicable), bump cap, frock
If needed: safety glasses, hearing protection, rubber boots
Expected to work continuously in a safe manner, and to encourage others to work in a safe manner
Expect to maintain good housekeeping, and report any unsafe conditions
Adhere to all GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices), such as a good hand washing practices and adhering to employee hygiene plan
Follow all USDA guidelines
Report any issues regarding food safety or quality
Preferred
5 plus years' experience preferred
Meat processing facility knowledge
