Hormel Foods is seeking a Cost Accounting Specialist to join their team in Mc Cook, IL. The primary responsibilities include verifying production information, maintaining accurate inventory, investigating variances, and preparing various reports for management.

Responsibilities

Verify production information for all assigned processing areas and enter it into the system
Maintain an accurate working inventory for all packaging, direct supplies, and all work in process (WIP) items. This will include cycle counting entries and other transactions
Investigate all variance between digital and physical inventory. Resolve issues independently or with guidance by the Lead Cost Clerk
Assist internal and external customers with inventory questions
Prepare various reports recapping information on a daily, weekly and monthly basis for review by management
Follow all Fontanini policies, safety rules, Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices
Work productively without direct supervision
Assist in teamwork support with cross-training with the team and occasionally support that role by performing duties. Ex: Payroll coverage
Analyze reports such as cost compares and provide variance explanations and/or corrective actions
Assist in all other duties as assigned

Required

One year of post high school education in accounting or equivalent experience
Experience with computers and ability to learn and use custom computer programs
Demonstrated computer proficiency including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Excellent organization and time management skills, with exceptional attention to detail, thoroughness and accuracy
Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with proficiency in English, written and verbal

Preferred

Associate degree with a highly relevant combination of years of applicable work/industry experience and training; or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in accounting or similar related fields
Experience working in manufacturing or food industry
