Contracted Chief Financial Officer
Strata Cloud Accountants is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Contracted Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to partner with their leadership team and a portfolio of independent clients. The CFO will provide strategic financial guidance, manage financial performance, and help small businesses grow profitably while functioning as a trusted advisor to business owners.
Responsibilities
Serve as Head of Finance for assigned clients, working closely with owners and executive teams to align financial strategies with business goals
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and 3-Statement financial modeling processes, including 12-month budgets and projections, quarterly refreshes, and dynamic 13-week cash flow forecasts
Partner with clients (typically $600K–$15M in revenue) to identify opportunities for growth and profitability. Move beyond reporting numbers—help clients create digestible action items, improve cost management, and implement growth plans
Develop and refine KPIs (including working capital targets) to guide decision-making and track performance against financial goals
Advise on SBA loans, lines of credit, and financing strategies. Support clients with valuation increases, bank relationships, and potential exits
Identify financial risks, ensure compliance with relevant regulations, and provide recommendations on back-office processes to achieve timely, accurate reporting
Weekly stand-up calls (30 minutes) to stay aligned and ensure efficient financial processes
Monthly CFO calls (60–120 minutes) to review performance, address concerns, and build forward-looking strategies
Quarterly CFO calls (90 minutes) for deeper strategic reviews
Deliver monthly financials packages (e.g., Fathom dashboards), conduct quarterly cost audits, and oversee accurate reporting from accounting teams
Qualification
Required
Proven ability to deliver strategic financial guidance and actionable insights in a multi-client environment
Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management tools
Excellent project management and communication skills; able to lead structured client meetings and drive accountability
Proficiency with financial platforms such as QBO, Xero, Excel, and modern FP&A/reporting tools
Familiarity with SBA loan processes, banking relationships, and small business funding strategies
Comfortable advising across industries, including local service businesses (restaurants, construction, professional services, etc.)
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics; MBA, CPA, or CFA strongly preferred
Minimum of 7 years of senior-level financial leadership, including CFO or VP of Finance experience
Demonstrated success working with small business clients and scaling organizations in the $600K–$15M revenue range
