Responsibilities

Develops, produces, directs, shoots, and edits strategic, engaging, informative video stories for the marketing, content, social media, web, and media relations teams at the University using animations and motion graphics as a key platform for storytelling and brand activation
Edits and adds content to videos using modern multimedia design, animation, interactive graphics, digital storytelling and visual innovation that advances the institution’s strategic goals and priorities around brand and storytelling
This individual is a key member of the broader multimedia team and is skilled in video production, motion design, and photography with a focus on driving creative strategy and producing timely, strategically aligned digital content
Works in lockstep with fellow creatives and the marketing, content, and digital teams to bring to life— in compelling ways —multimedia stories related to people, activities, and information that is relevant to key audiences
Tracks, reports, and analyzes budget and schedules for the assigned multimedia projects
Develops video project concepts including ability to lead project development, storyboarding, prototyping, scriptwriting, and consulting with university partners
Responsible for driving brand strategy within the multimedia space by capturing and editing video and photography, working with members of the multimedia and design team(s) to refine processes, manage deliverables, and ensure alignment with broader strategic goals
Collaborates with art directors, writers, and production crew to understand multimedia/video status and needs
Leads, develops, and executes motion graphics, video graphics, animated explainers, and dynamic visual assets for digital platforms, including digital advertising, social media, and more
Composes narratives, develops scripts and storyboards, edits video, and delivers high-quality, optimized assets
Brings static content to life through animation, interactive design, and video that aligns with brand strategy, creative identity standards, and storytelling goals
Partners with internal stakeholders and creative colleagues to brainstorm and develop visual strategies that meet project goals
Translates abstract ideas and messages into impactful multimedia assets that resonate with target audiences
Upholds and evolves the University’s brand identity across digital executions
Ensures consistency in visual language, tone, and quality across all deliverables
Oversees assigned multimedia projects from concept to completion, often under tight timelines
Manages the creative process independently or in collaboration with members of the multimedia, design, digital, content, social media, enrollment, and brand teams—balancing creative vision with technical execution
Ensures multimedia content is optimized for format, accessibility, and user engagement
Secures shooting locations, talent, and all necessary equipment required for production
Manages and coordinates multiple production schedules between students, staff, internal, and external University departments
Anticipates circumstances that may arise during production and post production phases to allow for efficient content creation
Applies advanced technical skills across multimedia tools and platforms—including 2D/3D motion graphics, compositing, and animation software—to produce high-quality visual, audio, and interactive content
Continuously explores and implements innovative design techniques, emerging technologies, and creative workflows to enhance storytelling, drive user engagement, and deliver brand impact
Utilizes non-linear editing (NLE) post-production techniques and software, such as Adobe Premiere, to produce high-quality media
Edits using advanced software and techniques, including but not limited to, Adobe After Effects, Color Grading, 2D/3D Animation, audio manipulation, etc
Troubleshoots any and all technical issues that may arise during the post-production process in order to maintain concept, timeline, and project delivery schedule
Participates as part of a peer network of creative professionals within the University, sharing best practices and contributing to team-wide growth and innovation while influencing projects, identifying synergies, and opportunities for collaboration and upskilling in an effort to conceive, manage, and fine-tune our multimedia strategy
Manages online video catalogues across multiple services and platforms, such as web, mobile, tablet, YouTube and other online hosting services, to ensure up to date content and appropriate campaign synergies
Manages ongoing updates and enhancements
Continues growth and development in the digital media and video communications domain through attendance at conferences and workshops as a participant, panelist, presenter, or moderator as needed to remain current in the field, incorporate this knowledge into practice, and determine and implement best practices
Maintains organized project files, archives and tags reusable assets, and ensures all media deliverables are pre-flighted, accessible, and ready for publishing
Reviews drafts, comps, and proofs for technical quality and visual integrity

Required

Bachelor's degree required
5 years of relevant experience required
A deep appreciation for the power of creativity and a keen understanding of what resonates with audiences required
Knowledge of video production with a strong understanding of multimedia production processes required
Ability to think strategically and understand client needs to provide counsel on multimedia design solutions required
Knowledge of best practices for multimedia materials, understanding of production processes for digital, web, and video projects required
Excellent time management and communications skills required
Knowledge of brand strategy concepts and the ability to manage a complex identity system and brand architecture for a large, diverse institution required
Understanding of how visual assets work together to visually communicate important information required
High level of organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills with an ability to manage stressful situations in a solution-oriented way required

Preferred

Professional experience in communications, animation/film/video production, video journalism, graphic design, or higher education preferred
Portfolio that demonstrates multimedia excellence as part of broader campaigns that yielded tangible results. Competitive expertise in video production and motion graphics/animation preferred
Knowledge of Figma, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, etc.) and the Microsoft suite—with experience in a Mac workspace preferred
Proficiency in conceptual creative problem solving, strategic integrated content messaging systems, photography, and video preferred
