Technical Designer III - GS3
Blue Origin is working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems for the benefit of Earth. The Technical Designer III role focuses on creating models, drawings, and configurations of engine hardware for the New Glenn rocket, ensuring precision and integration into the assembly process.

Responsibilities
Design and maintain component and assembly product definition by preparing design layouts and drawings, modifying existing designs and resolving design discrepancies
Apply Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly
Apply relevant company, industry (design, drafting, parts) standards to engineering designs
Implement engineering and manufacturing best practices to achieve a balanced approach to cost, schedule and performance requirements
Self-prioritize and self-schedule work activity in support of the team
Qualification
Required
5+ years of relevant design and drafting experience of structural parts, precision components, and subsystems using Creo/Wildfire/Pro-Engineer
Proficient in Windchill and Creo View
Strong work ethic, high attention to detail and great communication skills
Knowledge of fabrication and integration processes for machined components and welded assemblies
Experience managing large CAD assemblies and associated drawings
Proficient with ASME Y14.100, Y14.5, Y14.41, etc
U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Required for all positions: Blue's Standard Background Check
Required for Certain Job Profiles: Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if at any time the role requires one to be on a military installation
Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training
Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
Preferred
Experience with design in disciplines such as: propulsion, aircraft, spacecraft, oil & gas, automotive, naval, nuclear, or heavy equipment
Extensive practice in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)
Rocket engine structural and fluid systems experience
