Senior Payments Risk & Operations Specialist (Processor Experience Required)
Tekcard Payments is seeking a Senior Payments Risk & Operations Specialist with extensive experience in payments environments. The role involves managing risk monitoring, underwriting, and operational execution while collaborating cross-functionally to ensure controlled growth and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
Review complex merchants, processing history, and risk signals; recommend controls (reserves, delayed funding, limits, monitoring triggers, etc.)
Monitor chargeback/refund trends, spikes, policy violations, unusual activity, and implement mitigation actions
Detect unusual patterns, coordinate investigations, and document decisions/actions
Be a senior point of contact for high-impact merchant situations—balancing risk controls with merchant experience and speed
Help plug gaps as we scale—tighten workflows, fix broken handoffs, reduce rework, improve documentation standards
Help refine underwriting standards, monitoring rules, and internal playbooks; train/mentor junior team members
Work tightly with Sales, Client Services, Underwriting, and Operations to keep growth clean and controlled
Qualification
Required
5+ years in payments risk/underwriting/monitoring/operations (processor, acquirer, ISO/MSP, fintech payments platform, or high-volume merchant services environment)
Strong understanding of payments risk concepts: chargebacks/disputes, refunds, fraud patterns, merchant behavior models, reserves/holds/delayed funding
Ability to document decisions clearly, defend recommendations with data, and communicate calmly under pressure
Comfortable operating with autonomy and accountability in a fast-moving environment
Preferred
Recognized processor/platform exposure (Fiserv strongly preferred; also TSYS / Global / Worldpay / Chase Paymentech / etc.)
Experience supporting higher-risk verticals and exception handling
Track record of improving workflows or building repeatable processes (not just 'doing the job')
