Sr. Avionics Hardware Engineer - Lunar Permanence

Blue Origin is working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems for the benefit of Earth. The Sr. Avionics Hardware Engineer will be a crucial member of the Core Avionics organization, contributing to the development of avionics components for Lunar Vehicles and engaging in various engineering responsibilities throughout the product life cycle.

Responsibilities

Will own an avionics box(s) for the C&DH team
Developing product requirements and defining interfaces for engineering projects
Supporting hardware build, integration, and testing processes
Developing and implementing verification and qualification strategies
Conducting root cause analysis for hardware failures and developing mitigation plans

Required

Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or other related field
Complex hardware design experience through product design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR)
Knowledge of radiation effects on electronics and application to space hardware designs
Direct experience in requirements development and requirements-based verification
Experience in managing within power budgets, latency and system redundancy requirements
Familiarity with integrated systems verification, including developing hardware verification test plans and verification test reports for certification / qualification

Preferred

Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related fields
Successful candidates typically have 12+ years of proven track record in design, development, and test of space industry avionics components and systems
Experience developing digital, analog, and / or mixed-signal circuit board designs for avionics systems (including design, prototyping, schematics, layout, test and verification)
Experience in Operational or Developmental Flight Instrumentation (OFI/DFI)
Experience in circuit analysis and simulation, such as worst-case circuit analysis, signal integrity analysis, and logic or P-Spice simulation
Experience in grounding and general board layout principles, including EMI/EMC tradeoffs
Experience with Jama or similar requirements management tools
Experience with MIL-STD/DO-160/SMC-S-016 environmental qualification testing of avionics hardware
Familiarity with ARP 4754 and/or DO-254/DO-178 or similar standards
Familiarity with all phases of the product development lifecycle
Familiarity with HW / Embedded SW development, integration, and verification
Experience leading teams through project planning and execution
