Montgomery County Government is seeking a TERM Government Assistance Eligibility Specialist I to support the Department of Health and Human Services. This role involves determining eligibility for assistance programs and managing cases for residents with limited incomes.

Responsibilities

Interviewing, processing, and completing Intake applications, redeterminations, and Maryland Benefits Review (MBRs) forms for all public benefit programs, and completing all actions necessary to continue or terminate benefits in accordance with federal and state regulations

Completing case management functions for all assigned cases. This would include screening walk-in customers, obtaining and verifying information necessary to determine eligibility, such as income, rent, household composition, utilities, and citizenship

Making referrals to other agencies when appropriate, facilitates customers' efforts to access information, and partners with other public and private service providers

Performing other job-related duties as assigned

Required

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree

None of experience required

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted

Preferred

Experience assisting consumers with eligibility, enrollment, or renewals for Medicaid, MCHP, or Qualified Health Plans (QHP) through the Maryland Health Connection or another health insurance marketplace

Professional experience providing customer service or case management support to diverse populations in a human services or health coverage setting

Experience in troubleshooting system issues or resolving consumer inquiries related to online eligibility and enrollment platforms

Possess bilingual proficiency and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats
