Senior Actuarial Associate

Staff Financial Group is a leading insurance and financial services organization seeking a Senior Actuarial Associate to enhance its model risk management capabilities. This fully remote role provides exposure across actuarial, finance, investment, and risk functions while building expertise in regulatory compliance and model governance.

Responsibilities

Execute and enhance the enterprise model risk management framework
Lead and support model validations, including assumption testing and risk rating processes
Maintain comprehensive model inventory and documentation standards
Challenge model assumptions and identify potential vulnerabilities
Ensure adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements
Support internal and external audit requests with model governance reporting
Monitor industry trends and regulatory developments (e.g., VM-20, PBR, LDTI)
Utilize governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) tools to track controls and remediation
Partner with actuarial, finance, tax, and investment teams to embed risk-aware practices
Develop tools, templates, and training sessions to promote model risk awareness
Collaborate with teams across multiple locations to ensure process consistency
Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Required

Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or related quantitative field
ASA designation (Associate of the Society of Actuaries)
Minimum 3 years of actuarial experience, preferably in life insurance or annuities
Strong understanding of model risk frameworks, governance processes, and regulatory standards
Advanced Excel proficiency; experience with actuarial modeling software preferred
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication abilities
Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment
Reliable home office setup with high-speed internet connection

Preferred

Progress toward or completion of FSA designation
Experience with life insurance products, liabilities, and financial reporting (GAAP, Statutory, Tax)
Familiarity with actuarial modeling platforms (Prophet, AXIS, MoSes, or similar)
Knowledge of Solvency II, VM-21, or other regulatory capital frameworks
Experience with GRC platforms or audit/compliance processes
