Matrix Finance and Accounting is seeking a Contract Payroll Manager for their client, a staple in the Seattle community. The Payroll Manager will manage end-to-end payroll operations for a multi-state workforce, ensuring accuracy and compliance while interacting heavily with internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle, multi-state payroll for salaried and hourly employees across multiple entities

Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing using ADP (Workforce Now, Vantage, or similar)

Oversee payroll tax filings, W-2s, garnishments, deductions, and year-end processes

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws

Serve as primary liaison with ADP and third-party payroll vendors

Partner with HR, Finance, and Accounting on payroll changes, audits, and reconciliations

Review and reconcile payroll reports, general ledger entries, and benefit deductions

Develop, document, and improve payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls

Lead and mentor payroll staff (if applicable)

Support internal and external audits related to payroll

Manage payroll projects including system upgrades, acquisitions, or process automation
