Principal Mechanical Process Design Engineer

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include: Engineering analysis, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specifications; Failure Analysis; Accident Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews
Define scope of technical programs and develop effective, quality solutions to challenges which involve unique or controversial problems
Creatively meet all company and industry requirements and apply site systems to achieve quality, timely and cost-effective results
Give quality guidance and assistance to less senior professionals on related tasks
Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, to resolve complex problems
Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning
Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise
Qualification
Required
BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
Must demonstrate a minimum of 10 years design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry
Must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience working at one or more DOE facilities
Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a nuclear industry/facility
Must demonstrate experience creating and revising documentation in one or more of the following areas: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specifications; Failure Analysis; Accident Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews
Preferred
Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred
