NeoCharge is a residential energy management technology company building smart solutions that make EV charging accessible to every homeowner. They are seeking an experienced hardware engineer to lead hardware development for their next generation of energy management products, owning the full hardware lifecycle from schematic capture to production handoff.
Responsibilities
Design and develop power electronics for high-current AC applications (up to 50A residential circuits)
Create precision analog front-ends for current and voltage sensing using CTs, shunts, and hall-effect sensors
Design mixed-signal circuits interfacing with microcontrollers via SPI, I2C, and similar protocols
Develop switching power supplies for embedded systems in electrically noisy environments
Ensure signal integrity for differential current measurements and high-speed digital interfaces
Guide designs through FCC Part 15 certification (unintentional radiators) and UL safety compliance
Collaborate with firmware engineering on hardware-software integration
Manage prototype builds and coordinate with contract manufacturers
Qualification
Required
8+ years of hardware design experience with a strong focus on power electronics
Proven track record designing AC power circuits, including:
Circuit protection and interruption devices
AC-DC conversion and switching power supply design
High-current switching and relay control
Deep experience with precision analog design for energy monitoring:
Current sensing (CTs, shunts, hall-effect sensors)
Signal conditioning for differential measurements
ADC interfacing and anti-aliasing filter design
Proficiency with mixed-signal design and digital interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART)
Demonstrated experience achieving FCC Part 15B compliance for unintentional radiators
Familiarity with safety certifications (UL 61010, UL 2594, or similar)
Experience with PCB design tools (Altium, KiCad, or equivalent)
Strong understanding of DFM principles and production handoff
Preferred
Experience with residential electrical systems and NEC code requirements
Background in EV charging equipment (EVSE) or energy storage systems
Familiarity with creepage/clearance requirements for high-voltage isolation
Experience with EMC design techniques and pre-compliance testing
