Structural Analyst II, Fluid Systems - New Glenn Upper Stage & PA

The Structural Analyst II role focuses on performing and coordinating structural analysis on the Payload Accommodation Fluid Systems of the New Glenn launch vehicle, ensuring safety and efficiency in human spaceflight.

Responsibilities

Complete hand calculation and FEM analyses to report margins of safety for primary and secondary aerospace structures
Documentation of stress analysis to support release of engineering drawings / documents
Understanding of repair methods and analytical practices for both composite and metallic structure
Collaborate closely with designers, providing technical guidance on design concepts (risk vs. cost vs. performance)
Supporting cross organizational teams with input for production activities and configuration development
Analysis checks for designers and junior structural analysts in stress/stability/fracture analysis and standard processes
Improving enterprise analysis capabilities such as crafting process automation tools for model creation, strength checks, and analysis report generation
Provide technical guidance and on-site support for manufacturing, production, and integration activities
Prepare technical content and present to internal customers
Perform research, develop concepts, and run trade studies

Required

Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
3+ years of experience in the structural and dynamic analysis of pressurized components and systems including valves, tubing/piping, pressure vessels
Experience with FEA analysis tools (ANSYS preferred) including structural, dynamic, and thermal analyses
Working knowledge of 3D CAD programs (Creo / Solidworks / NX)
Understanding of FEM modeling techniques (boundary conditions, bolted connections, contact, verification methods)
Strong fundamental understanding of structural load paths
Knowledge of manufacturing methods, material selection and component testing
Familiarity with typical failure modes and standard test methods for both composite and metallic structures (e.g., shear tear-out, net section failure, torsion buckling, interlaminar shear, etc)
Ability to use structural hand-calcs to make quick effective decisions
Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn, take ownership, and drive projects to completion

Preferred

Experience with the analysis of components involving welding
Experience with cryogenic systems
Experience in the design of fluids components (valves, bellows, COPV's, tubing)
Experience in hardware defect resolution
Experience with Creo and Windchill
