Commissioning Business Development
Alava Consulting is seeking an experienced sales professional with deep industry knowledge in Pre-Commissioning services. The role involves identifying and closing new business opportunities in technical services for EPCs and plant owners, while acting as a liaison between clients and internal teams.
Responsibilities
Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities for:
Chemical cleaning (pre-operational & operational)
Steam blowing
System flushing, drying, nitrogen purging
Commissioning and start-up support services
Build and maintain strong relationships with:
EPC firms
Plant owners/operators
Construction managers
Commissioning teams
Develop sales strategies aligned with project lifecycles (FEL, construction, commissioning, turnaround)
Act as a technical liaison between clients and internal operations teams
Understand client system requirements, metallurgy, specifications, and cleanliness criteria
Participate in scope definition, bid reviews, and proposal development
Assist with pricing strategies while ensuring profitability and risk awareness
Support contract negotiations and clarify commercial terms
Stay engaged post-award to ensure smooth handoff to operations
Maintain long-term client relationships to drive repeat and referral business
Track market trends, competitor activity, and upcoming capital projects
Qualification
Required
5–10+ years of experience selling or working in: Pre-commissioning services, Chemical cleaning / steam blows, Industrial commissioning or turnaround services
Strong understanding of: Refining, petrochemical, power, LNG, or industrial facilities
EPC project structures and decision-making processes
Proven ability to sell high-value, technical services, not commodities
Strong technical aptitude and ability to understand process systems
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Comfortable working with engineers, project managers, and executives
Self-driven, organized, and accountable
Willingness to travel as needed to support clients and projects
Preferred
Existing industry relationships are a major plus
