Structural Analyst III, Lunar Permanence

Responsibilities

Analysis of load path from conceptual to drawing release and hardware creation
Collaborate with teams during the design process to ensure we are designing efficient structure, cutting down on unnecessary design iterations
Communicate effectively with engineers and managers to make sure the team understands analysis results and potential design improvements
Constantly drive toward improvements in the efficiency and quality of the design and analysis process
Analysis of metallic structures, composite structures and mechanisms
Integration of structural analysis with loads and dynamics environments
Finite Element Model development, refinement, validation, and correlation to tests
Strength checks and analysis report generation
Test and verification plan and report generation
Support configuration development and trade studies

Required

Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical, aerospace or civil engineering
Level 3 Requirement: 6+ years of experience
Solid foundation of structural static/dynamic fundamentals
Capable in both static and non-linear finite element modelling
Experience with the stress analysis of composites and metallic components
Ability to solve a variety of static and dynamic structural problems using physics-based analytical methods (hand calculations, in-house tools, and 3rd party commercial analytical tools)
Experience with aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle, in some of the following: External loads, Classical Analysis Method, Vibro-acoustic analysis, Thermal loads, Analysis using Abaqus and/or Nastran, Ansys, Hyperworks
Passion for spacecraft structural/environmental loads development/validation
Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred

8+ years of experience in aerospace or space industry
Vehicle load path definition and strength analysis
Analysis of COPV's using Abaqus
Manufacturing methods, material selection, testing, characterization & allowables development
Experience testing materials, joints, components and vehicles
Experience with ProEngineer Wildfire 4 / Creo Parametric or greater
Experience with Human spaceflight
Experience with mechanical systems
Experience in fatigue and fracture mechanics
