Responsibilities
Provides assistance to the Horsemen's Bookkeeper and assists with other clerical responsibilities, related to Live Racing
Monitors the claim box and processes horse claims
Accurately record the final results of each race
Prepare and deliver the daily deposit slip
Enter race results into the race card and breeders’ spreadsheets with accuracy and attention to detail
Assist guests in preparing required forms to setup an account, make check requests, deposits, transfers, video purchases and inquiries into their accounts
Contribute to the preparation and reconciliation of daily, weekly, and monthly pari-mutuel management reports
Assist Horsemen’s Bookkeeper in preparing weekly payroll for jockeys. Assist with preparation and balancing of daily, weekly and monthly reports
Serve as backup for tasks such as race setup and conversion, claim processing, posting race results, and check printing in the Horsemen’s Bookkeeper’s absence
Assist in resolving account discrepancies by researching documentation, initiating stop payments, and processing necessary adjustments
Qualification
Required
Two-year accounting degree or high school diploma with two-year bookkeeping experience
Ability to maintain a good working relationship within the department
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with persons of diverse backgrounds
Detail oriented and able to multitask
Ability to use a calculator
Upbeat and positive attitude
Ability to learn racing terminology
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Basic knowledge of accounting and payroll procedures
Preferred
Experience in computerized accounting systems
Spanish speaking ability
