Senior Cloud Security Engineer (RL5)

The Midtown Group is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to join their Infrastructure Security team. This role involves monitoring compliance, managing vulnerabilities, and collaborating with various teams to remediate security issues in cloud environments.

Responsibilities

Monitor cloud environments to ensure systems are patched, configured correctly, and compliant with regulatory standards
Analyze non-compliance issues to determine root causes and define solutions for remediation
Act as the bridge between Security and other teams (Cloud Center of Excellence, SOC, Architecture, Compliance). You will identify problems and manage the remediation process by influencing application owners and technical teams to apply fixes
Provide user support for cloud security tools, onboard users, and troubleshoot tool-related issues
Design and operationalize new cloud security features and services
Support application and infrastructure workloads during their migration to the cloud, ensuring security controls are 'baked in'
Create scripts (Python/Bash) to pull data, massage reports, or automate repeatable scenarios. Note: This is for reporting/analysis, not software development
Create and maintain engineering/architectural documents and translate requirements into Agile user stories for the CCoE or other teams to execute

Required

Minimum 5+ years of experience in Cloud Security services (Target Level: Senior/RL5)
Explicitly not looking for a DevOps engineer. We need a security practitioner with deep knowledge of vulnerability management, IAM policies, and configuration hardening
Experience working in heavily regulated industries (Financial Services preferred) where customization and strict compliance are the norm
You must be able to explain security risks to non-security teams and influence them to take action without having direct managerial authority ('influencing without the big stick')
Ability to track multiple streams of work in JIRA, manage backlogs, and follow up relentlessly with stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to think critically and solve problems rather than just relying on tools
