Responsibilities

Partners with users, developers, and leadership to understand application and operational needs
Serves as a liaison between development, IT, and operations, translating business and technical requirements into actionable solutions
Designs, builds, and supports scalable and maintainable software solutions
Evaluates and contributes to application, deployment, and infrastructure design decisions within time and resource constraints
Builds proofs of concept and prototypes to support architectural decisions
Designs and maintains CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes
Develops and supports cloud-based infrastructure with an emphasis on reliability and performance
Automates deployments, infrastructure provisioning, and environment configuration
Monitors systems and applications, troubleshoots production issues, and drives continuous improvement
Supports and enhances existing applications and services
Works with relational databases to support and optimize application data needs
Conducts testing, validation, and release activities to ensure stable, compliant deployments
Incorporates user and developer feedback to improve usability, reliability, and delivery efficiency
Collaborates with software developers, solutions architect, system analysts, and external partners on current and future system design
Advises on application and infrastructure maintenance, security, and operational best practices

Required

5+ years of professional experience in software engineering and/or DevOps
Strong programming skills in Java or C#
Experience building automation, tooling, and backend services
Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) in regulated environments
Proficiency with Git and enterprise branching strategies
Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure (preferred: AWS) - compute, storage, networking, IAM
Experience designing high availability, fault-tolerant systems
Infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform required)
Experience managing non-prod, staging, and production environments
Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)
Automated build, test, and deployment workflows
Experience supporting release management and rollback strategies
Artifact versioning and promotion controls
Strong experience with Docker
Experience deploying and operating applications on Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, or equivalent)
Understanding of container security and image scanning
Experience working in HIPAA-regulated environments
Strong understanding of: Access controls & IAM, Secrets management, Encryption at rest and in transit
Familiarity with audit readiness, evidence collection, and change management
Secure SDLC and DevSecOps practices
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting
Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch, or equivalent
Participate in incident response and root cause analysis
Experience with on-call rotations and production support
System performance tuning and capacity planning
Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL)
Understanding of data integrity, backup, and disaster recovery
Familiarity with PHI data handling and retention policies
5+ years of software engineering or software development experience

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred
Healthcare industry experience in a similar role preferred
Prior exposure to HIPAA privacy and security requirements is highly preferred
Experience with: CLIA, CAP, FDA (21 CFR Part 11), ISO 13485
Exposure to laboratory systems, diagnostics, or clinical workflows
Validation documentation (IQ/OQ/PQ)
Helm, Kustomize
Service mesh (Istio, Linkerd)
SRE practices (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets)
Blue/green or canary deployments
Static & dynamic security scanning (SAST/DAST)
Vulnerability management
SOC 2 readiness support
Zero Trust concepts
Experience with: Message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), ETL or data pipelines
API integration in healthcare ecosystems (HL7, FHIR – awareness level)
