Senior Manager Commercial Strategy
Joby Aviation is working towards making piloted air taxis a reality and is seeking a Senior Manager for Strategy & Business Development to support a new business initiative. This role involves leading critical workstreams in go-to-market strategy, pricing, and deal execution while collaborating with various teams within the company.

Responsibilities
Partner directly with the Head of Commercial for the Special Project to drive strategy execution across a portfolio of commercial and government opportunities
Build and maintain pricing frameworks, unit economics, and customer specific deal models
Support technical modeling (in partnership with engineering teams), including performance trade studies and key operational assumptions
Lead development of commercial and defense business models, including market sizing, competitive benchmarking, and go-to-market scenarios
Own pipeline organization and operating cadence: tracking opportunities, coordinating outreach, and driving next steps across stakeholders
Create high quality, executive ready deliverables including customer decks, internal decision memos, partnership proposals, and leadership updates
Support and/or lead partner engagements: prepare meeting strategy, represent Joby professionally in discussions, capture action items, and drive follow ups
Independently run smaller opportunities end-to-end, bringing in senior leadership to close or navigate complex negotiations when needed
Qualification
Required
7+ years of relevant experience in strategy, business development, investment banking, corporate development, management consulting, or a high-growth consumer or defense tech company
Strong analytical skills and comfort building structured models, synthesizing inputs, and tying outputs back to concrete strategy, and commercial proposals
Demonstrated an ability to drive complex workstreams independently with minimal oversight
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce crisp, executive ready slides and narratives
Strong cross functional leadership skills and comfort working across technical and non-technical stakeholders
High ownership mindset: proactive, reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in ambiguity
Strong interpersonal skills - able to represent Joby in meetings and build trust quickly
Willingness to travel up to ~20%
Preferred
Experience in technically complex industries such as aerospace, autonomy, defense, satellites, advanced mobility, or high performance hardware / software systems
Experience building pricing strategies, deal structures, and negotiating commercial terms
Familiarity with defense acquisition processes - nice to have
MBA or advanced degree is a plus, but not required
