Flight Test Service Engineer - On-Site Wichita, KS

GE Aerospace is seeking an On-site Flight Test Service Engineer responsible for maintaining the airworthiness of aircraft engines at customer facilities. The role involves a balance of hands-on maintenance tasks and technical development, while also providing customer support and managing spares for flight tests.

Responsibilities

Serves as part of the technical staff responsible for maintaining the airworthiness of an uncertified engine undergoing flight test
Serves as part of the technical staff responsible for maintaining the airworthiness of a certified engine in customer new production facility and fielded aircraft
Supports and enables test plans for engine and aircraft certification
Expected work distribution is 50% hands on maintenance tasks and 50% technical development
Provides technical feedback and interface with Product Support, Product Engineering, Field Service Engineering, Suppliers, and GE’s direct customer
Basic understanding of Jet Engines and flight test environment; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area
May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters
Develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others. A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to train and lead junior members of the team and/or customer staff
Manages spares through receiving, storage and shipment process to ensure that program is ready to support aircraft flight test

Required

Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or a high school diploma with relevant experience with at least 3 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of Aircraft or Aircraft Engines
Ability and willingness to work flexible and off-shift hours (including 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, nights, weekends, and holidays) when business needs dictate
Ability and willingness to travel to and support operations at offsite locations when business needs dictate
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening

Preferred

Experience in the execution of standard operational and technical tasks of maintaining and servicing aircraft engines
Familiarization with aircraft or engine maintenance practices and use of hand tools
Familiarization with aircraft or engines in the Turboprop Market including GE Engines and its competitors
Familiarization with the usage of Aviation Manuals such as Line Maintenance Manual, Installation Instructions and procedures
Experience with the use of Aircraft Engine Borescope equipment
Experience with aerospace software/controls systems
Experience with working directly with customer and/or customer support experience
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
