Senior Sales Engineer - Financial Services (New York, NY)

A10 Networks is seeking a Sales Engineer based in New York City to support their Financial Services customers, partnering closely with Regional Sales Directors and Account Executives in a customer-facing, pre-sales technical role. The role involves serving as the primary technical advisor throughout the sales lifecycle, leading technical discussions, and designing secure architectures aligned with customer goals.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary technical advisor for Financial Services accounts throughout the sales lifecycle
Lead technical discovery, architecture discussions, and solution design aligned to customer business goals
Deliver high-impact product demonstrations, technical presentations, and proof-of-concept engagements
Partner with Sales to drive opportunities from initial pitch through evaluation and close
Design secure, scalable, and highly available architectures using A10 solutions
Address Financial Services requirements such as: Low latency and high throughput, Resiliency and uptime (active-active, multi-site), Security and risk mitigation, Regulatory and audit considerations
Contribute to RFPs, proposals, and technical responses
Articulate A10’s value against competitive solutions
Confidently handle technical objections and positioning conversations
Provide real-world use cases and best-practice guidance
Support initial deployments, handoffs, and customer enablement
Assist with technical training and partner alignment as needed
Maintain trusted-advisor relationships beyond the close

Required

7+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or Systems Engineering in a customer-facing role
Strong understanding of the enterprise sales process and how SEs influence revenue
Deep expertise in Layer 4–7 technologies (ADC, load balancing, application delivery, security)
Solid understanding of Layer 2–3 networking (switching, routing, TCP/IP)
Excellent presentation, communication, and storytelling skills
Comfortable presenting to network & security engineers, architects, directors and technical executives
Able to translate complex technology into clear business value
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, sales-driven environment
Willingness to travel occasionally (primarily within the region)

Preferred

Experience supporting Financial Services customers (banking, trading, fintech, insurance, exchanges)
Familiarity with latency-sensitive environments
High-availability and disaster recovery architectures
Security, compliance, and risk-driven buying cycles
Security certifications (CISSP, etc.) are a plus
