Responsibilities

Designs, coordinates, and implements workforce development, education, and outreach programs supporting CASFER and ISCE, ensuring alignment with institutional goals, industry workforce needs, and NSF Engineering Research Center requirements
Develops and deploys innovative learning mechanisms using multimedia, learning management systems, and emerging technologies (e.g., AI, AR/VR) to translate complex research concepts into accessible educational content for diverse audiences
Conducts applied research on the effectiveness of instructional strategies and outreach initiatives; develops assessment frameworks to measure learning outcomes, engagement, and workforce impact
Contributes to proposal development, broader impacts sections, supplemental funding requests, and NSF reporting by documenting educational outcomes, workforce development metrics, and program effectiveness
Engages with faculty, students, industry partners, government agencies, educators, and community organizations to support workforce development initiatives and amplify research impact
Contributes to the design and implementation of interactive and experiential learning environments, including museum exhibits, demonstrations, and hands-on educational activities related to sustainability and circular economy research
Manages multiple concurrent projects, timelines, and deliverables with a high degree of independence, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to deadlines

Required

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects. Additional job related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis
This position is designated as involving access to critical infrastructure systems and/or research, as defined by Texas Executive Order GA-48. As such, candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background check prior to employment
Employees are required to comply with all applicable state and federal regulations related to the protection of critical infrastructure
Ongoing employment is dependent upon maintaining eligibility for access and successfully passing periodic security and compliance reviews
Strong knowledge of instructional design theories and models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, Design Thinking)
Ability to translate complex scientific or technical concepts into clear, engaging educational content
Proficiency in designing and implementing technology-enhanced learning experiences
Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including professional correspondence and reporting
Ability to evaluate information, assess program effectiveness, and apply evidence-based improvements
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
Ability to work independently with moderate supervision in a complex research environment
Knowledge of workforce development frameworks and STEM education pathways
Familiarity with sustainability, circular economy, or environmental engineering concepts
Ability to contribute to peer-reviewed publications or conference presentations related to education or outreach

Preferred

Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning Sciences, or a related field
Record of publication or scholarly dissemination in instructional design, educational technology, STEM education, or science communication
Experience contributing to grant proposals, particularly education plans or broader impacts sections
Experience working with interdisciplinary research teams or multi-institutional collaborations
Experience with emerging educational technologies, including AI-enabled tools, AR/VR, and interactive digital platforms
Experience in informal science education, public engagement, or museum-based learning environments
Experience supporting NSF-funded projects, ERCs, or large-scale research initiatives
Experience with program evaluation methodologies and educational research design
