Responsibilities
Administers the City of Dallas ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS), ensuring alignment with the Plan-Do-Check-Act framework and continual improvement objectives
Ensure citywide compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations, permits, and policies through coordination, monitoring, and corrective action management
Plan, coordinate, and oversee internal and external EMS audits, inspections, and management reviews; track findings and ensure timely resolution
Collaborate with city departments to identify environmental aspects, assess risks and impacts, and implement pollution prevention and sustainability initiatives
Develops, implements, and monitors environmental performance metrics, dashboards, and reports to support leadership decision-making and regulatory reporting
Provides technical guidance, training, and outreach to departments and staff on EMS requirements, environmental best practices, and sustainability goals
Supervises staff and consultants as assigned, including work planning, performance management, and professional development
Assists with development and management of environmental program budgets, grants, and contracts related to EMS and sustainability initiatives
Serves as a liaison with regulatory agencies, auditors, and external stakeholders to support transparency, compliance, and environmental stewardship
Qualification
Required
Five (5) years in working in environmental due diligence, environmental compliance, environmental auditing, environmental sampling, or waste management related work with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or lead capacity
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Life Science, Engineering, or Ecological related field
State of Texas Driver's License
Knowledge of public administration principles, municipal or government operations, and regulatory compliance frameworks
Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and standards, including ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems
Knowledge of environmental risk assessment, pollution prevention strategies, and continuous improvement methodologies using the Plan-Do-Check-Act model
Knowledge of personnel management, supervision, performance evaluation, and staff development
Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage internal and external environmental audits, inspections, and corrective action processes
Knowledge of strategic planning, program development, and integration of EMS and sustainability goals into municipal or government operations
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to lead and mentor personnel effectively
Ability to make independent decisions, escalate issues in a timely manner, and use judgement to address critical matters efficiently
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
