CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR (Engineering Technician III) - Range - 14 / AMEA
NEOGOV is seeking a Construction Inspector to join the Municipality of Anchorage's Project Management & Engineering department. This role involves inspecting capital construction projects for compliance with plans and contracts, coordinating with contractors and utilities, and addressing impacts to property owners.

Responsibilities
Inspection of capital construction projects for conformance to plans and contract, documentation/verification of pay quantities, production of as-built drawings, establishment of record documentation at project completion, and review/comment of upcoming project plans and specifications
Assist and communicate directly with contractors, and engineers to resolve any construction design related issues
During project construction, this position meets with various municipal and private utilities and coordinates with them to ensure project does not negatively impact the utility
This position also meets with impacted property owners to explain what is being done and address any potential impacts to their properties

Qualification
Required
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and five (5) years of experience in one or more of the following fields: drafting, surveying, inspection, materials testing, plan review, permitting, computerized mapping, computer assisted design (CAD), traffic signal control, and/or code enforcement and at least one (1) year of which must have been at the Engineering Technician II level with Municipality or equivalent elsewhere
OR Associate's degree in Engineering, Geomatics, Construction Management, Computer Assisted Design (CAD), or a discipline specific to the department and three (3) years of experience in one or more of the following fields: drafting, surveying, inspection, materials testing, plan review, permitting, computerized mapping, computer assisted design (CAD), traffic signal control and/or code enforcement and at least one (1) year of which must have been at the Engineering Technician II level with the Municipality or the equivalent elsewhere
OR Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geomatics, Construction Management, or a discipline specific to the department and one (1) year of experience at the Engineering Technician II level with the Municipality or the equivalent elsewhere
Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire
Valid State of Alaska Driver's License and satisfactory Driving Record at time of hire
Preferred
Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees
