Athletic Coordinator
The City of Cedar Rapids is seeking an Athletic Coordinator to lead and support primarily youth athletic programming that strengthens the community. This role is responsible for coordinating leagues, camps, tournaments, and events while working closely with staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure safe, engaging, and impactful programs for youth participants.

Responsibilities
Develops, implements, and coordinates recreational programs, activities and/or events for assigned area(s)
Organizes various leagues, camps and tournaments by creating rules, schedules, and lesson plans
Assists with general oversight of recreation facilities
Supervises the work of assigned personnel, including seasonal, part-time staff and volunteers which involves assigning and reviewing work, training staff and conducting staff evaluations
Creates and maintains program budgets, rosters, reports and effectively evaluates program effectiveness
Identifies and pursues programming for areas of community need/interest and helps promote and make marketing recommendations
Procures necessary equipment and supplies for programs and/or facilities
Coordinates maintenance needs for athletic fields and spaces for competition and programs
Collaborates and coordinates with internal and external partners or organizations to maximize use of facilities and expand programming opportunities
Assists with concession stand operations as needed including procurement of product and scheduling of staff
Promotes a safety-first workplace culture at all times through enforcement of safety protocols, identification and mitigation of hazards and accurate completion of accident reports
Responds to customer complaints and inquiries in a timely manner and identifies solutions
Performs other related work as required and/or assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation or Sport Management, Leisure Studies, Physical Education or a related field
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in coordinating and organizing athletic or recreational programs, services or facilities
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Valid U.S. Driver's License
CPR and First Aid certifications within 6 months of hire
Preferred
Certified Youth Sports Administrator (CYSA)
