Private Water Hydrogeologist Program Coordinator
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking a Private Water Hydrogeologist Program Coordinator to serve as a statewide technical expert in protecting groundwater quality and public health. This role involves coordinating multi-disciplinary teams to develop well construction specifications and implementing technical eligibility requirements for the state’s Well Compensation program.

Responsibilities
Serve as a statewide technical expert in protecting groundwater quality and public health
Apply geological, hydrogeological and groundwater contaminant analysis to support policy development and implementation of specific well construction and approval requirements in NR 812, Wis. Admin. Code
Coordinate the work of multi-disciplinary teams to develop special well construction specifications to address site-specific groundwater and drinking water quality issues
Establish special well casing depth areas and support decisions for landfill variances and heat exchange projects
Implement technical eligibility requirements of the state’s Well Compensation program in NR 123, Wis. Adm. Code, and related statutes
Provide scientific expertise on complex site issues, including emerging contaminants
Develop and implement strategies for community outreach and input as required on special casing requirement areas, with assistance from the outreach and communication staff
Coordinate with divisional experts on cross-program issues (e.g. solid waste, remediation, etc.)
Assist with preparing and briefing internal and external stakeholders as appropriate
Qualification
Required
Experience and/or education in hydrogeology (particularly related to Wisconsin), chemistry, groundwater chemistry, geology, bacteriology, public health sanitation and microbiology
Experience in hydrogeologic maps, water sampling results, well construction practices, and geologic data
Experience in project management
Preferred
Experience interpreting and applying environmental laws or policies
Experience interpreting Wisconsin hydrostratigraphy and its impact on groundwater quality and quantity conditions
Bachelor's degree or higher in physical science, water resources, groundwater chemistry, geology or hydrogeology
