Responsibilities
Install, route, and secure fiber optic cabling, racks, ironwork (ladder rack, subfloor infrastructure), patch panels, and cable management hardware (i.e. Panduit raceway, Fiber Management Systems (FMS)) in accordance with TIA/EIA and DoW standards
Perform fusion splicing, connector termination, and cable preparation for singlemode, multimode fiber systems, and copper cabling
DC Power cable (determining path, wax cord lacing), HTAP, and equipment
Conduct, document, and analyze results from OTDR, power meter, and continuity tests to diagnose and repair fiber issues
Adhere to security level access, material handling, and protocols
Interpret SOWs, site drawings, and infrastructure diagrams to maintain accurate records of network routes
Qualification
Required
One year to three years of experience involving the construction, maintenance, or repair of various types of networking or electronics equipment or an equivalent combination of education from a related technical discipline for the required experience
Proficiency in BICSI standards, fiber optic splicing, and testing equipment
Basic knowledge of communications installations
Some experience with various network devices (e.g. IP routers, optical/IP switches) and ability to install network devices per DoW and Industry Implementation Standards
Communications skills including verbal, written, and graphic and experience with customer service environments
Proficiency with MS Office applications/Google documents/sheets/slides for reporting
Active Secret Clearance or higher
Must be able to travel 90% of the time on deployments for both CONUS and potentially OCONUS locations
Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs)
Preferred
Previous experience with Outside Plant (OSP) fiber and fiber cabinets is highly desirable
Experience with specific equipment manufacturers (e.g., Corning)
Familiarity with network security products
Familiar with Amy installations
