Contract - Payroll Analyst
Shionogi Inc. is a company focused on supporting individuals with disabilities and veterans, and they are seeking a Payroll Analyst to assist with multi-state payroll processing. The role involves reviewing new-hire entries, verifying tax setups, and ensuring compliance with payroll-related laws and regulations.

Responsibilities
Review New hires entries and PAF information: start date, pay group, exempt/nonexempt, workers comp codes, PTO plan set up, additional payments. Verify SS number and name on the SS administration Business Services online
Administers all payroll tax activities, maintains working knowledge of current payroll related laws and regulations
Review the address and the work location of the new hires, determine the state for the income tax withholding and local and occupational taxes if applicable. Review the registration of these tax jurisdictions and, when needed, start the registration process
Review the tax set up on the UKG employee’s entry and make any corrections. Then set up the new registered jurisdictions with on UKG and DayForce for tax filing
Reconcile payroll periodic tax reports and quarterly reports prepared by DayForce
Utilize and maintains UKG Payroll and PTO modules and Asure Time and Attendance system to assist in the processing of the semimonthly payroll in multi-location/multi-state environment
Review and ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all payroll input and output
Prepare reports (both ad-hoc and routine) utilizing the UKG and Business Intelligence (Cognos) reporting tool
Assist in research and resolving payroll tax notices
Exercises good judgment and maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information, records and reports
Work independently in the absence of supervision
Perform other tasks or projects as required or as assigned
Qualification
Required
Candidate must be familiar with all aspects of Core Payroll Concepts and compliance including multi-state and local taxation, IRS and Department of Labor rules, compensation, benefits
Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience performing payroll, payroll tax processing for multi-state payroll
Must have a clear and detailed understanding of payroll and payroll tax regulations and corresponding employment law
Must have the ability to research the resources available for payroll tax processing
Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply and communicate data and proficient with Excel
High attention to detail
Must live a commutable distance to our US Corporate Headquarters in Florham Park, NJ. Office presence required at least 2-3 days per week
