Electronic Repair Center - Principal Robotics Technician

Responsibilities

Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, rebuild, and refurbishment of robotic systems, including:
+ Wafer handling robots
+ Atmospheric and vacuum robots
+ End effectors, arms, motors, encoders, and gearboxes
+ Robot controllers, power supplies, and safety circuits
Provide bench-level electronic and mechanical repair of robot-related components, including:
+ PCB assemblies and controller boards
+ Servo drives and motor assemblies
+ Sensors, cabling, and interconnects
Support the development and execution of standard work practices for robot troubleshooting, repair, and refurbishment:
+ Create job breakdown sheets, repair documentation, and troubleshooting guides
+ Ensure training plans are developed and executed for technicians and team members
Develop and maintain robot repair pipelines to reduce external repair spend and improve tool availability:
+ Identify high-failure robot components and drive in-house repair solutions
+ Partner with equipment modules to identify high-leverage robot reliability opportunities
Provide on-tool support for critical robot-related tool-down events, delivering high-quality, efficient repairs to restore equipment operation quickly and safely
Collaborate with manufacturing, equipment engineering, and global teams to:
+ Improve robot reliability and performance
+ Support productivity, cost reduction, and availability goals
+ Share best practices across the fab and GlobalFoundries network
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs

Required

Education Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Robotics, Military Equivalent, Trade Equivalent, or equivalent hands-on experience
Experience Minimum of 3 years of experience in one or more of the following: Industrial robot troubleshooting and repair, Semiconductor equipment maintenance, Automation, robotics, or mechatronics systems
Travel Up to 10%
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a tightly coupled, cross-functional team
Language Fluency Fluent in English (written and verbal)
Physical Capacity Demands Ability to work in a semiconductor cleanroom environment
Ability to wear all required cleanroom protective clothing and equipment
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds; bending, twisting, and standing for extended periods
