5+ years expAAA National is seeking a Senior NonProfit Accountant to lead the accounting cycle and financial reporting for the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety. This role involves overseeing monthly reporting, budgeting activities, and providing analysis to support financial management and strategic decision-making.
Consumer Services
Responsibilities
Prepares monthly financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in accordance with GAAP standards and practices
Partners with Foundation contacts to understand and analyze expense trends, identify potential savings, and forecast annual outcomes
Performs routine review and analysis of balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and reasonableness of accounts. Advises management of any outstanding or relevant issues relating to the balance sheet review. Assists with the resolution of any issues
Prepares and presents materials for the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety Board of Trustees and will serve as the Assistant Treasurer
Assists in the annual budgeting process, including coordination and review of budget processes
Prepares budget roll-up and coordinates adjustments to budget files following the departmental budget process and reviews budget submissions
Participates in and documents Investment Committee meetings
Coordinates annual audit with external auditors and assists with Form 990 filings and tax compliance. Facilitates integration of all financial and reporting systems into the audit process
Performs in-depth analytical and pro forma reporting on an ad hoc basis as directed by management
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration
Five (5) or more years of experience in accounting and nonprofit organizations
CPA highly preferred. A combination of demonstrated competence in complex accounting procedures and experience may be substituted for a CPA
Demonstrates an awareness of strengths, limits, and areas to improve
Uses time effectively; anticipates obstacles, adjusts priorities as needs change, and keeps others informed of progress
Strong written and oral communication
Strong time management and organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, and be adaptable in a fast-paced, dynamic, deadline-driven environment
High level of expertise in Excel and Word software programs
Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in solving financial problems
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
