Desktop Support Specialist
Huxley is a reputable Asset Management firm located in Midtown, NYC, seeking a motivated Desktop Support Specialist to join their IT team. The role involves providing technical support for end users by deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting desktop systems, hardware, and software in a fast-paced finance environment.
Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day technical support for end users, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and peripheral issues
Assist with imaging, configuring, and deploying Windows desktops, laptops, and mobile devices
Support employee onboarding and offboarding, including account setup, workstation preparation, and equipment distribution
Perform routine system updates, patching, and software installations using endpoint management tools
Maintain accurate asset inventory records for all end-user devices
Assist with device lifecycle management, including repairs, replacements, and decommissioning
Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure compliance with standards, policies, and configuration baselines
Document procedures, solutions, and troubleshooting steps in internal knowledge bases
Escalate complex issues to senior engineers while continuing to learn and contribute
Qualification
Required
2+ years of experience in IT support, help desk, or desktop support (or equivalent education/training)
Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and common enterprise applications
Familiarity with Active Directory, user accounts, and permissions
Basic understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, VPN)
Awareness of cybersecurity best practices
Experience troubleshooting desktops, laptops, and peripheral hardware
Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Flexibility to work occasional off-hours (evenings or weekends, as needed)
Preferred
Exposure to cloud platforms, cybersecurity tools, or Microsoft administration
Basic scripting experience (PowerShell or similar)
Experience supporting remote or hybrid users
Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications
