Responsibilities
Serve as the lead subject matter expert for HIPAA X12 EDI transactions supporting Medicaid systems
Design, develop, and maintain EDI mappings for transactions including 837, 277CA, 834, 835, TA1, 999, 820, and NCPDP D.0
Develop, execute, and document test scripts for X12 transmissions, including unit, system, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
Conduct QA and testing on EDI applications to ensure compliance, accuracy, and performance
Set up and manage trading partner relationships, including user setup, standards configuration, envelope configuration, and full-cycle testing
Process, monitor, and troubleshoot all inbound and outbound X12 transactions
Maintain and manage a catalog of EDI document types and associated validation rules
Analyze EDI transactions, prepare reports, and maintain detailed process documentation and data flow diagrams
Identify, document, and resolve EDI processing errors; work directly with trading partners to resolve issues in a timely manner
Provide technical support during and after implementation for healthcare EDI applications
Act as a liaison between trading partners, internal business teams, vendors, and healthcare providers
Support Customer Service and internal teams by resolving EDI-related issues, answering questions, and retransmitting EDI documents when necessary
Track daily EDI and batch processing activities and report operational metrics to senior management
Develop and maintain crosswalks and validation rules for file exchanges
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance EDI system efficiency and reliability
Triage incoming EDI issues through monitoring and alerting mechanisms
Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively within Agile teams
Qualification
Required
7+ years of experience developing and executing test scripts for X12 EDI transmissions
5+ years of hands-on experience conducting QA and testing on EDI applications
5+ years of expert-level experience in EDI mapping for: 837, 277CA, 834, 835, TA1, 999, 820, NCPDP D.0
5+ years of strong business and technical experience with HIPAA X12 EDI transactions
3+ years of experience processing and monitoring inbound and outbound X12 transactions
3+ years of experience creating and managing EDI document catalogs
2+ years of experience setting up new trading partner relationships, standards, envelopes, and full-cycle testing
2+ years of experience collaborating with EDI partners to resolve transmission issues
2+ years of experience working in Agile methodology environments
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
