Vice President of Client Accounting | Phoenix, AZ
Avenue5 is a vibrant third-party multifamily property management firm seeking a Vice President of Client Accounting to lead their accounting function. This role involves overseeing financial reporting, cash management, and auditing while ensuring compliance with client accounting policies.

Responsibilities
Oversees the activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timely distribution of monthly financial statements and annual audits
Participates in national initiatives and interacts with senior leadership
Ensure sensitive data is secure and managed appropriately within the accounting department and throughout the organization
Ensures compliance with various 3rd party client accounting policies, and practices
Maintains accounting systems along with policies and practices
Responsible for the accurate and timely submission of all sales taxes, unclaimed property, and replacement reserve reporting
Responds to various questions and issues regarding audit and other third-party financial reporting
Coordinates internal and external audits
Participates in and may instruct company-provided training
Interviews, hires, trains, and supervises positions in the accounting group
Complies with all company national standards, applicable health and safety rules and regulations, as well as applicable local, state, and federal laws
Performs other tasks as required when directed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required for this position
Minimum of ten years of experience in accounting is required
Minimum of five to eight years supervisory experience is required
Ability to perform advanced mathematical and accounting functions
Ability to follow and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Ability to perform cash forecasting, planning, and management
Ability to use property-specific software programs
Professional verbal and written communication skills
Ability to conduct presentations or speak in public to large groups of people
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to read and comprehend financial statements, such as budgets, etc
Ability to multi-task
Ability to make quick and effective decisions
Must be creative, decisive, and self-directed
Must have strong leadership ability
Ability to analyze and resolve problems
Ability to negotiate a contract
Ability to manage a team
Ability to conduct interviews
Ability to set and meet goals
Ability to consistently meet deadlines
Ability to maintain flexibility and creativity in a variety of situations
Ability to maintain confidentiality

Required to complete and successfully pass the Avenue5 Fair Housing and Preventing Discrimination and Harassment training and other courses if assigned
Required to maintain a regular schedule which may also require working outside of regular schedule, weekends, and non-traditional holidays
Ability to travel (up to 10%)
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds
Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency required
Must be able to sit, stand, reach, bend, and stoop for extended periods of time
Talking and expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word
Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction
Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound
Visual requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision
