Responsibilities

Conduct molecular cloning and genetic experiments related to meiotic drive mechanisms
Assist with Drosophila crosses, stock maintenance, and phenotypic assays
Perform and troubleshoot molecular and biochemical assays
Maintain detailed experimental records and contribute to data analysis
Assist with lab organization, reagent preparation, and protocol optimization
Contribute to manuscripts, figures, and presentations as appropriate
Performs additional duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field
One (1) year of related work experience to include: Strong background in molecular biology, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and qPCR
Cloning and plasmid construction
This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure

Preferred

Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field
Prior experience with CRISPR mutagenesis
Experience with protein biochemistry (e.g., expression, purification, Western blotting, co-IP)
Experience working with Drosophila (genetics, husbandry, crosses)
Familiarity with microscopy, germline biology, or reproductive biology
Interest in evolutionary genetics, genome conflict, or selfish genetic elements
